Commercial Furniture in West Palm Beach: Convention Receiving and Services

Updated

Furniture for an event at Palm Beach County Convention Center needs a confirmed loading approach and a plan for its final room. The venue's current facility guide and exhibitor services page also distinguish equipment handling from utility services, which can affect both furniture selection and installation responsibilities.

Give the driver the loading approach, not the guest entrance

The 2026 facility guide identifies the loading-dock entrance from eastbound Okeechobee Boulevard, just beyond Parker Avenue. It separates bays used for regular building deliveries from event bays and directs simultaneous events to coordinate their assignments with the event manager. The main street address alone does not reserve a dock or describe the correct approach.

Send the carrier the venue-confirmed entrance and assigned receiving arrangement. Include vehicle type, final room and the name of the person accepting the furniture. Discuss any special dock equipment with the handler before dispatch. Keep unloading distinct from guest valet access and arrange where the vehicle goes once its active loading work is complete.

  • Confirm the approach, dock assignment and receiving contact as one delivery instruction.

Check the route before sending crated furniture into carpeted space

The facility guide distinguishes carpeted display areas from exhibit-hall handling. It restricts forklift-dependent crates in carpeted areas and requires suitable handling methods; it also prohibits carpentry work such as sawing or drilling on those surfaces. A packaged counter or large lounge piece may consequently need preparation elsewhere.

Give the event manager the largest packed dimensions and proposed equipment before choosing the receiving plan. Ask where unpacking and assembly can occur, and confirm how finished pieces reach the carpeted destination. Request the required floor protection from the responsible installer and include empty packaging removal in the scope, rather than leaving it beside a meeting-room entrance.

  • Resolve unpacking, assembly and the final handling route before furniture dispatch.

Order the furniture and its utility connections through the correct parties

The convention center's current Exhibitor Services page identifies electricity, internet and phone, aerial rigging, water services and compressed air as services that must be ordered directly through the venue. These are separate from bringing in the physical furniture. A powered counter or display table should therefore be coordinated with the venue service order.

Mark the connection locations on the furniture layout and provide the relevant equipment requirements to Exhibitor Services. Have the organizer identify who orders each service and who installs the furniture around it. Compare the final layout with the service plan before setup so a large counter does not cover a needed connection or force an improvised cable route through circulation.

  • Maintain one layout showing furniture placement and venue-ordered service connections.
